LENS - Lutheran Earthkeeping Network of the Synods

What is LENS?

LENS is an network of people affiliated with congregational, synod-level, regional, and churchwide units within the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America devoted to the task of earthkeeping. We chose the name "earthkeeping" within our full name, Lutheran Earthkeeping Network of the Synods, because it most clearly reflects our feelings of commitment to the task of caring for the sacredness of God's creation.

At present, our function is to create a community throughout the ELCA of groups and individuals involved in earthkeeping; to share resources, trade news of events, techniques, activities, and programs by various means and to group together and commit to each other in collective action in care for the earth.

This web site within the Web of Creation is designed to further facilitate that communication between ourselves and with others by explaining the mission, activities, and composition of LENS. Interested synods, parishes, and churchwide and regional units are encouraged to submit their own content, which will be linked to this LENS home page in order to inform visitors about their own efforts. If you are interested in adding something to the LENS pages, please email us at webofcreation@lstc.edu
