Community: CTS has a student-formed, led and initiated green group that has recently re-organized itself and began meeting again. They have already started planning a number of events for this semester at CTS including an Earth Day chapel service later in the semester. Curriculum: JoAnne Terrell continues to include an ecojustice component in her Ethics courses every fall. Ken Stone is currently on sabbatical reformulating an older course on "Creation Themes in the Hebrew Bible" to include a stronger emphasis on ecological hermeneutics, which will be taught in the fall (2008). The reconstruction of this course coincides with one of his current research interests on biblical interpretation and "the question of the animal," which of course has some contact with green concerns though the two things are not identical. Building and Grounds: The President and Trustees launched a strategic task force for facilities planning last year, which has been looking at all of our buildings as well as discussing plans for any future new facilities. The President has insisted that all moves should be in a "green" direction, and so far the trustees and other consultants have been working with her toward that end. |
