Second Annual Carbon Markets USA Conference
Washington, DC
As the national debate on carbon management continues to grow, so does the range of challenges and opportunities that abound this market. Now in its second year, Carbon Markets USA will once again provide an excellent meeting point for new market entrants and key market players, as they examine and explore the latest market developments and ways to further accelerate market growth.
The 2007 inaugural Carbon Markets USA welcomed over 170 executives from across the US, UK, Europe and Latin America and featured high-level debate, discussion and analysis from a selection of leading players in government, industry and key associations involved in the region’s growing carbon market. This year’s event will continue to focus on in depth discussion and interactivity in order to get to the heart of the issues affecting the market.

International Coastal Cleanup Day
Sept. 20
Ocean Conservancy's International Coastal Cleanup is the world’s largest volunteer event of its kind. During the International Coastal Cleanup event, volunteers record each piece of trash picked up at sites around every major body of water around the world. Local and regional coordinators then collect the raw data that is calculated by Ocean Conservancy including number of volunteers on each site, the number of pounds of trash removed, and what items were collected. Ocean Conservancy uses this data to produce a global snapshot of the issue of trash in our ocean.

ELP Food Tour Conference 2008
"The Politics of Food"
Raleigh NC
ELP's Politics of Food national conference will engage participants in a challenging exploration of how and why our food system works as it does, whether it is secure, just, and sustainable, and how it might be reshaped for the future. The conference will provide an interactive forum that enables attendees to make new connections and share information around the common goal of developing visionary, yet practical, solutions to local and national food-related challenges.
North Carolina State University Park Scholarships and Department of Food Science will co-host the "Politics of Food" conference. North Carolina's rich and diverse agricultural heritage has put it at the crux of the challenges facing modern agriculture, and this setting provides a terrific opportunity to explore strategies that North Carolina communities and businesses are using to build a more sustainable food system from the ground up.
