She has been active in the environmental community for 20 years, serving on the board of Environmental Defense, the advisory board of the Union of Concerned Scientists, and for six years as the chair of the Episcopal Diocesan Commission for the Environment.

This Samuel Morgan Forum is made possible in part by a grant from The Saint Paul Foundation. The grant is part of a larger effort by Unity Church to support community-building programs in the church’s neighborhood.

This lecture-discussion is hosted by Unity Church’s Green Sanctuary Team, which focuses on environmental issues at our church, in our neighborhoods, and beyond. We invite you to come and be part of a morning talking about this issue that is at the forefront of American dialogue.

His six published books, critically acclaimed in professional journals and the national press, have been used as texts in 150 universities and translated into 22 languages. His first book, Environmental Ethics, is considered a landmark text on environmental ethics. He has been named one of the 50 Key Environmental Thinkers by Joy Palmer in the book by that name. Dr. Rolston will present on this topic at a community lecture on Friday, March 23, 7 p.m. In addition to this presentation, Northland College will host a one-day event called “Creation Care: A Northwoods Summit for Environmental Stewards” on Saturday, March 24, from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Dr. Rolston, faith leaders, and the public will learn what regional churches in Michigan, Minnesota, and Wisconsin are doing to practice environmental stewardship.
